War between vanir and aesir
WAR BETWEEN VANIR AND AESIR
Long ago, the Vanir (gods of nature), had a conflict with
the Aesir (gods of war), the origin was the murder of a witch named Gullveig by
the Aesir.
This witch was very greedy, and the Aesir hated her, in one
of her trips, they decided to kill her and throw her body to a bonfire in the
middle of Gladsheim (palace of Odin). By surprise, it resurfaced from its
ashes, and the Aesir killed her up to a total of three times and threw her
three times into the fire, but she always rose again. After this fact, the Aesir
called it Heid, which means "the one that shines". The witch became a
goddess of bad magic and used her powers to do evil.
The Vanir learned of what happened and declared war against
the Aesir.
